Description:
This volunteer and adventure program is split into two halves; a 2 week conservation placement followed by a 2 week adventure tour taking in the best of Queensland. During the first two weeks you will work alongside a leading conservation organization, in stunning locations in and around Townsville, assisting with a range of projects - tree planting, seed collection, endangered species protection, fencing, flora and fauna surveys and heritage restoration. At the end of the program volunteers set off on a 2 week adventure tour which includes white water rafting on the Tully River, a beginners scuba dive, spotting crocodiles on the Daintree River, Cape Tribulation, snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. The adventure program has been specifically designed so that volunteers can book additional activities; such as bungee jumping, sky diving, zip-lining in the rainforest canopy and scuba diving. What Difference Does This Expedition Make? This expedition offers a safe, fun and friendly opportunity to contribute in a practical way to the conservation of the unique Australian environment. Projects undertaken in the Townsville and Northern Queensland region will range from protecting and enhancing the natural areas found along the Great Barrier Reef Coastline to protecting the unique vegetation found in and around the tropical rain forests and waterways - the habitat for the widely diverse wildlife found in this area.
