RISE Volunteers
You can volunteer to work with Rise in the Hohoe (pronounced "Hoch-way") District of the Volta Region from a minimum of one week to several months. During your stay you will live in close contact with the local community, and take part in ongoing projects under the supervision of Mr. John Sabara (the Rise Director). Each volunteer is encouraged to use their initiative during their stay and can bring their own ideas to existing or new projects.

RISE Adventure Travel
We believe in voyages of discovery, discovery of the alternative which offers unforgettable experiences for the enthusiastic and curious traveller. We also believe that tourism can be a source of development for both the region and its inhabitants. Thanks to our own direct knowledge of the area as well as the contacts we have developed, we can give advice to anyone wishing to explore this wonderful country. We can also organise trips in Ghana, in particular in the area in which the association works. Our experience offers the possibility of really getting to know life in an African village as well as the potential of coming into contact with the local people.

Highlights:
RISE Volunteer Projects
The main project that we are currently developing is the Rise Vocational Institute (RIVI) in Liati Soba, where RISE is based. At the moment it runs courses in catering and textiles but we also have plans to open a computer section when funding permits. Three classrooms have been completed but further work is required to erect fencing around the school, build a toilet block and a hostel for students who travel from outside the village. Looking further ahead, we are considering constructing fish ponds and engaging in agriculture to generate income for the school and employment for the local workforce. Our aim is to make the School support itself financially while at the same time providing a low-cost, high quality education for it's students. Volunteers are needed to assist in completing these objectives.

RISE Adventure Travellers
Discover the Zor Waterfall at Liati Soba. Also the Wli Waterfalls in the tropical forest near Hohoe, the highest in Ghana, or the nearby Tsatsadu Falls at Alavanyo, or the Tagbo Falls at Liati Wote which are almost as spectacular. Afadjato Mountain attracts climbers of all ages, while the Kalkpa Game Production Reserve is a special place for lovers of wildlife.

The Volta Region is also famous for its many festivals and ceremonies, of which the Hogbetsotso, of the Anlos people, in November is probably the most famous. The people of Wli have a unique festival to give thanks for the gift of water.
