Buddhist Cultural Introduction Learning in Sri Lanka

Highlights: Temple life is very different from what you think from thousand of miles away   Volunteers in this Program have the unique opportunity to fully involve themselves with temple life day to day rituals of a Buddhist temple. And have the opportunity to converse with monks and gain valuable insight into Buddhist culture. Participants in this program have the option of living with a local host family near the temple or at accommodation on the temple grounds. on your request we can arrange a stay in a seaside motel because this temple is situated 50 mar from the seaside. In free time volunteers can go to beach and relax.

Buddhist cultural holiday volunteers wake up at approximately 5:30 am and have the opportunity to observe or participate in the morning chantings and meditation. During the day, volunteers will be led in 2 meditation sessions by a bilingual monk. Volunteers have access to a small library of Dharma (religious) books and can join the monks' practices and ceremonies. There are no specific Skills or Qualifications needed to join this program.

Buddhist country, Sri Lanka has majority of its people respecting monks and following the peaceful and transcendental philosophy of Buddhism. This project is for those who are looking for cultural immersion while living with Buddhist monks. The daily life of Buddhist monks is far from the experiences of most of the people who live using advance modern privileges. The project provides century-old cultural knowledge and experiences to the volunteers and has captivated the people who are interested to know about the Buddhism and Buddhist culture. Any volunteers can choose to work in this project. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn, practice, and understand the philosophy of Buddhism while living with the monks. Volunteers can also join in local prayers, rituals, and festivals.
