Better in Belize Eco Community

  Belize
  • Other Cities in Belize:
  • Benque Viejo Del Carmen

Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: ongoing

Description: There are many different areas of adventure here.

1. Development of a medicinal trail
2. Construction
3. Beautification programs
4. Riverside ecology
5. Expansion of our farm
6. Solar and wind power

We have two milpas (Belizean farms) on our 130 acres, they need tending, improvement, expansion of exotic fruits. Our farm includes sugar cane, bananas, pineapple, plantains, macals, breadnut, breadfruit, avocados, peppers, natural viagra mayan plants, bitters, coconuts, and more.

We have source of all seeds such as Surinam cherries, gnarly lemons, passion fruit, ylang ylang, goji berries, soursop plus many more.

This community is situated on the beautiful Macal river that is swimmable and has an 80 foot waterfall with a meagre 15 minute hike. Located in the Vaca Forest area and 15 minutes from Benque Viejo del Carmen, 25 minutes from San Ignacio (a good sized town with everything you would ever need) and 50 minutes from Belmopan the capital of Belize.

Duties would include, setting up a nursery, planting, grafting, tending and learning mayan farming techniques taught by our local farmer. We want to develop a farm second to none, it is already mature and now we want to expand it using permaculture techniques and sustainability.

Expansion of our natural medicinal plants that are native to Belize is high on our list. With local Shaman and medicine men, there is a plethora of learning and knowledge to be had.

Trail building, construction, nursery and fence building, beautification projects, tree identification and marking are some extra items of duties you can lend a hand.

This property is extremely magical. We also have a cacao farm in southern Belize, so you can visit both.
