Description:
The Dominican, though beautiful, is an impoverished land whose people are in need of your help. Volunteers can work in a clinic, school, nursing home, orphanage, or sports or drama program. They can even spend some time helping to build orphanages, clinics or even refurbish baseball facilities. This program can be customized to fit the volunteers' skills & interests. Available for groups of 10+.
Highlights:
* Specialized Program: Medical The goal of this program is to provide dental/medical care to the poor & needy in remote communities who do not have access to trained professionals through the dental/medical clinic located in Juan Dolio. Anyone with training as a physician, dentist, nurse, hygienist, dental or medical assistant, or pharmacist is desperately needed. * Specialized Program: Sports Our staff of college coaches, All-American athletes, professional players, Hall-of-Fame coaches, & major league players works with your group to change the lives of those less fortunate. Choose from basketball to soccer, volleyball to baseball, & everything in between. * Optional Add-ons: - Santo Domingo Tours - See the house Columbus built his son - with original furnishings. Visit the first church of the New World, built in 1523, & check out the incredible Columbus lighthouse. Lights on the roof illuminate the night sky like the batman symbol (but in the shape of a cross). - Altos de Chavon Tours - Visit & shop in this European-style community, a section of Casa de Campo - the largest resort in the Caribbean. - Snorkel Off Catalina Island - Enjoy a buffet lunch on the beautiful white sandy beach of this private island. - Whitewater Rafting - Take on the Class 3 rapids of the Jarabacoa. - Horseback Ride - Take a leisurely ride through the scenic countryside. - Golf - Try one of the top-ranked golf courses in the world! Teeth of the Dog was patterned after Pebble Beach & has 12 holes on the ocean!
