Italian Homestay and School Integration

  Italy

Durations of Program: 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Dates: From September to June.

Description: Our Homestay and School Integration in Italy program offers students the opportunity to experience the Italian way of life and allow them to discover the typical life of a young Italian teenager, by living with an Italian host family and going to a local high school like any Italian student, during school year only. Students will be welcomed by their host families as if they were a member of the family and spend their evenings and weekends with their host families. During the weekdays (between September and June), he/she will go to a local high school with a host sister or brother or a young from the family.

Host Family: The student is hosted on a full board basis

Age: 14 to 18 years old (at the date of departure)

Length: 4 to 12 weeks

Dates: From September to June. The program can start anytime of the year.

Location: Students will be placed in any region of Italy according to availability, and no student can request a specific geographic area or environment.

Requirements:
- A minimum of two year of Italian language study (one year for the summer program)
- Students will be interviewed in their home country before being accepted
- Participants must show that they are mature enough to participate in the program

Italian Homestay and School Integration

Highlights: In addition to the family integration, the participant will have the chance to go to a public Italian school "Scuela Superiore" with the host sister or brother or with a neighbour (the Italian student and the participant may not be in the same class). They may not be in the same school, in rare cases.

Thus, during the weekdays, the participants will attend all the classes whatever the subjects are: Italian, Mathematics, history, geography, English, Spanish, science, and many other options. The participant is expected to attend all the classes. The aim of this integration is to discover the Italian school system, and, overall, have a social integration with Italian teenagers.

This program is perfect for someone who is eager to improve his Italian while discovering the way of life of Italian teenagers.

* Typical day at the school

Classes usually take place during the morning of week days, including Saturday.
The schedule generally goes from 8:00 am to 1:00-2:00 pm. Lunch is not served in the Italian schools.

Class attendance is compulsory, and if a student misses one or more days of school he/she must have a written justification by the family. Similarly students are not allowed to enter late, or exit from school in advance, without a written permission of the family or, in case of some sudden illness, without the intervention of a teacher or of the Preside himself.

Italian students have a lot of homework to do at home. You should attempt to complete your homework as well, from the very beginning, in order to get used to it and to participate more actively to the school life.
