  Germany

  • Berlin

Term: Fall, Spring, Summer, Throughout the year, Winter
Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks and 5-8 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: Nov, Dec, Mar, Apr, Jul, Aug

Description: Citytravelreview based in Edinburgh, Scotland, attracts participants each year to take part within our study/ work placement GAP programmes. Participants are usually undergraduates, post graduates or working people taking a short sabbatical. Some are individuals or groups looking to do something different to take some time out to reflect, learn new skills, change career direction or to do something new while being productive with their time.

We currently organise two programmes in the winter for 3 weeks, spring for 3 weeks and summer 5-6 weeks. A Travel guide Project and a Filming Project.

Add to your CV or Portfolio

You will attend a German language school to learn German. During the afternoons you will work as Travel Researchers/review journalists and be thoroughly involved within your creative team, creating a professional tourist guide aimed at young people and students visiting the capital. You will write reviews for restaurants, attractions and entertainment, city history etc...

A second project assignment is very similar creating a series of short podcasts. You will attend workshops and be aided by a professional working team. The guide is published and distributed to various language schools, backpacking hostels, and tourist offices and agents to hand out free to young people and students. So if you are looking to gain new skills or looking to get a step into the media or creative industries simultaneously working in another country and gaining some new language skills to add to your CV or portfolio, please look no further.

Please e-mail why you would like to participate, a CV/Resume is also very helpful. Unfortunately places are limited. Our Winter group is from the 24th November 08 to 14th December 08 (3 weeks in total). Our Spring group is also for 3 weeks from 30th March 09.

Note: We have very limited spaces left for our winter and spring groups. Places for our summer groups will be available from the New Year.

NOTE: Our projects are designed for learning and work experience (Internships) to in order to develop new skills, create something to be proud of and add as a productive gap to your CV or portfolio. It is a great stepping stone for anyone wanting to work in the media, journalism and creative industries. Please be aware It is an unpaid project and there are costs involved in relation to the school, accommodation, workshops, organised activities and excursions with a team of professionals.
