Volunteer & Live on Mount Kilimanjaro

  Tanzania
  • Other Cities in Tanzania:
  • Kilimanjaro,  Rural Areas

Durations of Program: 1-2 weeks, 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks

Description: Live in the "Garden of Eden" for a period of 1 to 12 weeks as a Volunteer in our Orphan's Program or work as a Teacher, Nurse, Doctor, or AIDS Councelor in the local Kilema Hospital or our small Medical Clinic located in Lasso. Volunteer Fee is only 165USD/week and includes R&B (Great Food & Living Conditions) plus free walking safaris of Mt. Kilimanjaro. We currently can accommodate a total of 16 volunteers in our Kilema & Lasso Facilities, but are opening an additional volunteer facility in the village of Maua. If you volunteer for two weeks, we will guarantee one orphan a full year of primary school including tuition, books, new uniforms/sweater/shoes, a nourishing lunch, and medical support.

No money is ever given to the supporting family members, friends or schools. Delivery of food, clothing, school supplies, medicines, and other necessary items are personally delivered by the volunteers to the orphan's family or school under the guidance of our current volunteer coordinators

Careful follow up by our volunteers is always conducted to insure that the items reach the targeted orphan and are used solely for the benefit of the targeted orphan! All volunteers to Kilimanjaro will find their journey to be one of a deep and spiritual nature, and one that will sustain their faith in the human race and the need within each of us to serve.

The famed Dr. Albert Schweitzer, who committed the majority of his life to Africa, once said, "I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know. The only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve."

Orphans of Kilimanjaro's Mission Statement: The goal of The Orphans of Kilimanjaro Project (Sponsored by The Roch Charitable Trust) is to care for our orphans by supplying food, clothing, and educational assistance. Orphans continue to live with extended family members or friends where they can attend local schools, churches, play, and associate with their childhood friends....thus preparing them to rejoin society and re-infusing Tanzania with healthy, aware, and productive individuals, eager to contribute to a brighter future. Additionally, we support local schools and medical facilities by recruiting educators and medical personnel.

    Year Founded: 1994
