Description:
Join this GVI combination program and teach while you travel across the three Central American countries of Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. The cost of education in Guatemala and Honduras means that only a small percentage of the population can attend so GVI, working in conjunction with the leaders of the indigenous communities involved, have built schools and have started open classes that are free to the public. Teach in the GVI schools and live with local families while you travel through Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Take Spanish lessons, and travel to nearby villages each day to teach the areas underprivileged indigenous children. Several side trips are included so you have the opportunity to visit many of the highlights each country has to offer. How this program makes a difference: GVI volunteers work in programs which provide free education for children and adults, funded through volunteer contributions. GVI also runs a food program. Without these projects, education would not exist for most of these children in Guatemala and the children in Honduras would not have secondary education or primary reinforcement.
