Description: Kurus English is a new, language school in Cape Town, South Africa which combines innovative tuition in English with our own unique distinction: Language Excursions. Students meet diverse and relevant people for out-of-the-classroom language practice and exploration. Authentic language texts are provided and pre-taught for these excursions. We enter into the very fabric of Cape Town and its society, providing students with opportunities for learning English, and also expanding cultural competence as an important social skill.

Opportunity 1: Language Culture Discovery (30 lessons/week)

Morning: 4 hours classroom-based Grammar and Skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking. During the afternoon 2 to 3 hours Language Excursions will take place. You are accompanied by your teacher, who becomes your language guide, encouraging and linking language practice and discovery through cultural, historical and social excursions, visiting, meeting and communicating with relevant and informed people in Cape Town.

Opportunity 2: Language Culture Discovery+ Private (34 lessons/week)

When choosing Opportunity 2, the students have 4 extra private lessons which are in addition to Opportunity 1. The private lessons will take place on Monday and Friday afternoons. We recommend Opportunity 2 for TOEFL, IELTS and TOEIC Examination Preparation, as well as special Business Lessons (presentation, curriculum vitae, specialist vocabulary etc.).

Opportunity 3: Examination Preparation (FCE, CAE, CPE)(32 lessons/week)

In the morning we offer 4 hours General Intensive English: Grammar, Skills: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking. In the afternoon: 2 hours of FCE; CAE; CPE Master Class For specific guidance, tuition and support aimed exclusively at success in the examination. Once a week, there is an opportunity to practice and improve your English while joining one of our Language Excursions.

Opportunity 4: Tailor-Made Language Culture Discovery

Kurus English provides Tailor-Made Language Culture Discovery opportunities for companies, governmental groups or for whomever may require them. They are designed individually and start and end as requested.

Highlights: Our goal is to combine learning English with building meaningful awareness of cultural diversity. We offer weekly Language Excursion themes, which include: Food and Cuisine; Spirituality; Work and Business; Science and Technology; Freedom and Responsibility and Media and Expression. The themes change every week for a period of 12 weeks. During the Language Excursion (minimum 2 and maximum 3 afternoons per week) the students are accompanied by our teachers, who become your language guide, promoting, encouraging and linking language practice and discovery through cultural, historical and social excursions, visiting, meeting and communicating with relevant and informed people in Cape Town.

The Language Excursions are flexible and coordinate with actual events in Cape Town, when possible and/or desirable. These excursions give the students the unique opportunity to improve their English while meaningfully encountering the people, the energy and the diversity of Cape Town.

Here is an example for the theme Food and Cuisine: Enjoy South African multi-national cuisine while going on a Cape Malay cooking experience. We shop with a family living in the Bo Kaap. Afterwards, we return to their home, prepare typical Cape Malay food and, naturally, we have dinner together. On another afternoon, we drive to a spectacular wine estate to enjoy a wine and/or olive tasting experience; we receive insight into the wine-making process and the history of South African wine production. On our final afternoon, we visit a known Cape Town musician who provides us with an introduction to the typical cuisine of the Xhosa community in South Africa

* Professional and intensive general English tuition offered through communicative classes of no more than 8 students, guided by carefully-selected, highly-qualified and experienced teachers.

* We offer a unique and inspired distinction: our Language Excursions which promote Language, Culture and Discovery. Minimum 2 and maximum of 3 Language Excursions per week, including language guiding, transport, entrance fees and, on certain Language Excursions, a meal or snacks and/or refreshments.

* In your 10 min breaks after every lesson, we offer you refreshments.

* Accommodation is booked with a carefully-selected Host Family, single room and breakfast who are situated close to our school (max. 30 min).

* No additional and/or hidden costs: registration and administration fees are already included.All course materials are included. Should you book a course of shorter than 4 weeks' duration, a surcharge of 50 Euros will be levied.

* Airport Transfer to and from the airport.

* Our Activity Manager will assist you in finding free-time opportunities and in making arrangements for any leisure time and weekends.

* In the event of any emergency, we offer a 24h Emergency Hotline.
