Description: This immersion program proudly represents the foundation of all Nacel language programs, offering the chance for a young person from abroad to improve his/her level of English. Language improvement comes from the constant immersion in a family. The friendship which results from living as a member of a family encourages continued international communication and understanding.

Home Schooling Option

Nacel's Home Schooling option is an exciting program for summer students and their host families. It offers a chance for students to learn the language with a member of their host family on a structured one-on-one basis. It also provides a context for communication, language activities, and cultural sharing which will foster continued understanding and closeness.

A member of the family will tutor the student for a total of 15 hours during the first two weeks of the stay (5 hours per week in Germany). The tutoring is geared towards improvement of the conversational language, with an emphasis on the local lifestyle and culture. Writing, reading and listening activities should be included to round out the student's learning. The home tutor should be a member of the family who is either a teacher or has a degree in higher education and has had experience in home schooling. Tutoring time is "set apart" from daily activities and focused on the student's advancement in the language. Nacel provides each home tutor with materials, including a workbook and general guidelines of the program and examples of how to help format tutoring lessons.

This program is mainly intended for students who have the very basic skills of the studied language.

Highlights: Live in a Canadian family. The Nacel homestay program offers teenagers opportunities to experience the everyday life of a host family in Canada.
