Ever wanted to gain equine work experience volunteering in Africa amongst some of the most stunning scenery and fascinating wildlife on the planet? Whether you are looking for an amazing way to spend your gap year, a holiday of a lifetime or just the chance to go on horse safari and improve your horse riding; on this three month equine work experience programme you can fulfil your hearts desires! Based at a beautiful safari lodge on one of the largest and oldest national parks in Southern Africa, this horse safari work experience adventure will require you to look after and train over thirty gorgeous horses. The horses are mainly Boerperd cross horses, who have each been selected with the same criteria as a sport horse (for their pace, temperament, confirmation and ride ability) so are all fit, in excellent condition, and will make brilliant companions during your time volunteering in Africa! Available to anyone who is an experienced horse rider, this equine work experience adventure will improve your horse riding skills immeasurably. With our experienced guide and up to eight guests, you will regularly go on safari riding as a backup rider in a game reserve. Ride to see an amazing range of animals, including the Big Four (elephants, lion, leopards and buffalo) and an abundance of other game such as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and antelope. You will ride in a thrilling yet extremely safe way with our guide, cantering across open plains and learning about the animals and ways of the bush. Any time you are not on safari, you will spend the day schooling, grooming and improving your riding technique under the direction of the owner who has lectured in equine studies and has competed at a top level in Southern Africa.
