Term: Throughout the year
Durations of Program: 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 5-8 weeks
Dates: Available throughout the year

Description: Help empower children through education and compassion. Orphanage volunteers focus on educational training for children. This training will consist primarily of English language classes. Besides teaching, the orphanages operate several creative programs. Volunteers' active participation in programs such as health education, games, drawing and painting is encouraged. With such a variety, the orphanage allows and encourages volunteers to explore a meaningful approach to service.

Every year, hundreds of children leave their poor villages and arrive in small and big cities, in search of work. Most of these children are deprived of educational and other opportunities. After coming to cities, most of them work as child laborers in restaurants, hotels, and factories. Education can empower children to challenge a life of further poverty and exploitation.

Volunteers will visit Royal Chitwan National Park in the sub-tropical lowlands of the inner Terai, where they will participate in many incredible activities. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about the local Tharu people through a visit to the Tharu village, the Tharu Museum, and a Tharu cultural dance program.
