Description: Connect with other students from different backgrounds and cultures! Our USA programs enable you to work directly with students of all ages on the Blackfeet reservation of Montana, in immigrant communities in Minnesota, and Appalachia of West Virginia. A real resume builder! Or, volunteer abroad with students in the Cook Islands, China, Ghana, Tanzania, South Africa, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Italy, Greece, Mexico or Peru. Teach English language skills in classrooms or small groups. Search our web site to find just the right program to match your training and interests. J-term and spring break dates scheduled; student and alumni group discounts available.

Highlights: One- to 40-week options. Teams depart monthly. Join a standard service team, or organize a specialized student or alumni group. Student and group rates apply for many service programs. Independent Study Credit arranged through accredited university. Call for details.

Qualifications: You should be in good health, enthusiastic, and willing to work in a team and take direction from local leaders.

Cost Include Description:
Service program costs support the community's on-going development program, and also cover your meals, lodging, transportation at the work site, project expenses, administrative costs, and the services of a trained team leader. The service program cost does not cover free-time expenses, or your airfare (or other means of transportation to the host community). All costs, including airfare, are tax-deductible for U.S. tax-payers.

Typical Volunteer: Volunteers are open-minded, energetic, culturally curious individuals who really want to make a difference by sharing their talents, skills and interests in a foreign community. Global Volunteers's Mission Statement: "Partners in Development". Founded to help advance peace, rehabilitate improverished communities, and promote mutual international understanding between peoples of diverse cultures through short-term volunteer service on long-term community development programs. We maintain on-going partnerships with local leaders and indigenous host organizations worldwide. Each year, we mobilize up to 300 teams of volunteers to work alongside local people on work projects central to their advancement. We also raise funds to support our international and domestic partners and to provide child sponsorships for educational, social and medical assistance. Global Volunteers is in special consultative status with the United Nations and UNICEF.
