Study Spanish and Surf in Ixtapa - Zihuatanejo
Mexico
Dates: Every Monday
Description:
Combine learning Spanish with surfing in Mexico! Learn Spansih with our friendly, experienced and qualified teachers for 4 hours a day - and for the rest - surf! The Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo area offers some of the best surf on Mexico's Pacific Coast. We highly recommend it for beginner and intermediate surfers. It has regular, consistent surf with a huge variety of breaks from beginner to expert. Breaks like Escolleras, Playa Linda, La Saladita, the Ranch, Mahajua, Troncones, Playa Manzanillo, Juluchuca, La Barrita and Las Gatas, all within one-hours drive. Escolleras is right in the heart of Ixtapa, on the main beach - so no travelling is needed! The most popular break is Playa Linda. It is just a short 10 minutes bus ride (YES the buses do take boards!) away and is the perfect idyllic beach break on a palm fringed beach, that is picture card perfect. Don't bother with a wetsuit, you won't need it here! For those wanting more variety there is also Playa Las Gatas and Playa Madera in Zihuatanejo, 30 minutes north is Troncones is a 3+ mile long beach with powerful beach and point breaks, followed La Saladita, reputed to be the best longboard wave in Mexico if not the Americas! Ixtapa - Zihuatanejo is a year round surf destination. The best surf is from May to October but even November through March still see ride-able surf most days. The really nice thing about this area is that MANY of the breaks have almost no crowds - a true positive for such a classy area of surf. Although we market this area as excellent for beginners and intermediate surfers with easily accessible rivermouth, point, beach and reef breaks there is really something for every surfer, from beginner to professional.
Highlights:
Ixtapa-Zihuatannejo has MANY attractions and activities, As well as excellent constant surf - there is wind surfing, kitesurfing, sailing, horse riding, tennis, golf, and kayaking. The area is also world renown for both its scuba diving and big game fishing! There is very good shopping, restaurants, discos live entertainment, and rustic old Mexican bars. Just offshore is Isla Ixtapa and other must see tropical islands. You also need to go to Petatlán, famous for its church and gold shops, visit the La Soledad archaeological site, spend a day in Barra de Potosi (wildlife reserve) and enjoy the delicious seafood.
