African Impact Kenya Expedition

Description: Join 15 other intrepid travellers as you venture out on a Camel Trek through the Districts of Laikipia and Samburuland, the vast plateau North West of Mt. Kenya, straddling the equator at the heart of Kenya's Rift Valley Province. Along with our African Impact team you will then be involved in the refurbishment of a local Maasai village school, and base for the Nomadic Communities Trust Mobile Camel Clinic near the village of Londongokwe. After this building project in Samburuland on the banks of a local river, take in the sights of Lake Nakuru's famous cloud of flamingos, and wildlife population, and follow on the the Maasai Mara for the start of the Great Migration.

* Visit Maasai and Samburu villages and see their lives as they are unchanged for centuries, and unmarred by many of the world's complications.
* Refurbish a local Maasai village school.
* Assist in the development of a new base for the Nomadic Communities Trust Camel Clinics. This will serve as the base for the nurses who venture out to remote communities to provide HIV/AIDS awareness; family planning and vital immunizations.
* Learn some of the fascinating intricacies of the Maasai, Samburu and other rural Kenyan cultures.

Qualifications: No qualifications are necessary, just the desire to join our team of travellers in absorbing Africa and making a difference in the local Maasai community where we will be working for part of the expedition.

Cost Include Description:
Project Fee Includes
- Project Fee: this entails financing that will cover all expenses for the refurbishment of the clinic and camel base. In this way, the Nomadic Communities Trust will not incur any cost in the development process.
- 3 meals a day for your 23-day trip. You may be expected to participate in food preparation from time to time, and will be organised into groups to do this.
- All accommodation for the duration of your expedition. Accommodation styles vary from comfortable rustic bandas to unique tented bush camps.
- Maasai Mara camping experience, including Parks entry fees, game viewing drives all meals and tented accommodation.
- All transport and transfers within Kenya, including airport pick-ups and drop-offs.
- Assistance in your projects by various African Impact staff and coordinators. Full support from African Impact and your expedition leaders throughout your time on your Kenyan travels.
- Use of our fully equipped overland safari vehicle.

Project Fee Excludes
- Personal travel insurance for the duration of your expedition, which should include cover for repatriation.
- All transport by air to Nairobi (you will be met by one of our representatives at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi).
- All items of a personal nature, such as curios, gifts, clothing (work and other).
- Email/Internet and telephone calls.
- Soft drinks, wines and spirits.
- Meals taken in restaurants.
- All visas for border crossings.
- Any pre or post expedition travels over and above your planned itinerary in Kenya e.g. visit to the Maasai Mara, Serengeti, Mount Kilimanjaro etc.
