Description: Despite a remarkable history of dynasties and culture, a booming population stresses China's economy. An astonishing number of children, especially those who are disabled, are left orphaned because their parents simply cannot afford to raise them.

These children depend on orphanages for their primary needs. Yet, many orphanages are so strained from providing food and shelter that they are forced to overlook other fundamental needs such as emotional and social support. Lifeworks-China assists these orphanages so they can be more capable of providing children with a loving and playful environment.

Our China participants work under the leadership of professional staff and assist the efforts of foundations dedicated to providing medical support and programs for orphaned children. Working with the foundation members, our mission is to offer nurturing care to the infants, as well as provide essential childhood experiences through playing, creating art, and having fun.
