Jane Goodall Institute Volunteer Program in Uganda

  Uganda
    Entebbe

Term: Fall, Spring, Summer, Throughout the year, Winter
Dates: Placements start in early February and mid September - please note that exact dates are subject to change and are dependent on confirmation of school term dates.

Description: Volunteer and work with chimpanzees at the world renowned Jane Goodall Institute. Help raise environmental awareness and support humanitarian issues in Uganda. Join the Jane Goodall Institute and be a part of implementing strategies from head office in local schools close to the fragile forests that are home to the ever decreasing chimpanzee populations.

This six month internship is an incredible opportunity if you are interested in careers in ecology and/or the environment. Those applying for this incredible experience-giving volunteer work in Uganda will ideally have a background or relevant qualifications in environmental education. As a volunteer you will be training and teaching Ugandans about environmental conservation and also about humanitarian issues.

* How this program makes a difference:

Over the last four years this project has helped to increase the quantity and quality of environmental education taught in schools surrounding forested areas. Students participate in visits to forest education centers and gain a personal connection with the forest habitat. Many students have chosen to undertake conservation projects to help the environment, animals and the human communities surrounding them. These projects have included activities such as tree planting, composting, awareness campaigns, and water and sanitation projects.
