Description: Nepal contains eight of the world's ten highest peaks, but there's more to this narrow sliver of land than just huge mountains. Combining project work and high altitude trekking, this Venture blends awe-inspiring mountain trails with unforgettable encounters with the extraordinary Sherpa and Terai people.

Cultural Orientation, Kathmandu Valley:
(Week 1)

We arrange a home-stay with a Nepali family where you will be introduced to Nepali cuisine, learning to cook a Thukpa or a Chow-chow, mastering a little Nepali language and take part in the musical traditions of the village. Learn about how you can make a difference and how the help you give in Phase 2 is needed and appreciated.

The Aid Project Nepal:
(Weeks 2 & 3)

During the middle-section of your travels, you'll have plenty of opportunities to try out your newly-learned Nepali language skills working alongside the local community. In the Nuwakot region youll help out the local school and refurbish buildings (particularly temples). But perhaps one of the most satisfying aspects of this volunteering period is your chance to spend time with young children teaching English and organising lively sports days.

Expedition and Adventure:
(Weeks 4 & 5)

A visit to Chitwan National Park will give you the chance to track wildlife on elephant back, spotting a real Bengal tiger from this secure vantage point could prove the highlight of your visit. Next up a 5 day trek to the highest monastery in the world which offers spectacular views of a myriad of impressive mountains including mighty Everest and Lhtose. Youll gain a real insight in to daily life in the Himalaya as you travel through Rhododendron forests and across frozen rivers enjoying the hospitality of the local people whilst staying in tea-houses. Finally we return to Katmandhu for a well deserved rest.
