Description: This amazing teaching project in Huancayo Peru gives you the opportunity to work with both children and adults who might not otherwise have the opportunity to receive a formal education. While volunteering on this project in Peru, you will live with a local family. We also give you the chance to volunteer and work with typical Andean children and in your spare time we offer great tours of the area only seen by locals, off the tourist trail. If you are looking for culture and a different way of life, Tinkuy Peru can meet all your needs.

As a volunteer with Tinkuy Peru, you will be offered beginning through advanced Spanish courses. You will also have opportunities to learn Weaving, Gourd Carving, ceramics, silver making, Quechua and Andean music using traditional instruments and dance. Joining this meaningful project in Huancayo Peru provides you with the chance to truly immerse yourself in Andean indigenous culture, while you simultaneously help to improve the lives of people in one of the poorest communities in Peru.

Highlights: We are located in the Peruvian Highlands, artisan valley of the Mantaro River. It is a wonderful place to learn or to improve your Spanish because there are not many tourists here. The people are very warm and friendly with a rich and lively culture. Also being surrounded by the Andean mountains, the views alone are worth coming for.

We aim to promote voluntary work for both public and private organizations and institutions. Our goal is to offer moral, spiritual, intellectual and material support to children who have been subjected to family or society abandonment, or who have experienced social or domestic violence.
