Mini Adventure in Sri Lanka

Dates: All Year Round

Description: Daily Schedule: Day 0: Airport pick up and hotel transfer to Colombo (45 min-1hour drive from the airport), participates rest the first night in Colombo. Volunteers should manage for food and accommodation.

Day 1: Proceed to Ambalangoda early in the morning, which is 2-2 ½ hours drive from the Colombo, and after reaching the office the orientation class will be held after lunch. Orientation program will be a briefing session on the program, general information about the Sirlanka, history, culture and customs. This session also covers a brief on Ambalangoda area, rural lifestyle, especially the Buddhist way of life.

Day 2-10: After breakfast, volunteers will proceed to the children project (Orphanages) in Ambalangoda. Orientation tour of the village and the Project site. Introduction to host family. Briefing on locality, customs etc. in the evening volunteers will be provided an opportunity to going around the small city of Ambalangoda visiting Mask Museum, and a school for traditional low country dancing and sea beach. Work with orphanages for 6 days. Volunteers will do general assistance in English teaching, cleaning, washing etc. and other activities. Evening - participate in meditation, hammed discussions and other activities in the temple. Volunteers will be assigned work in specific. Volunteers can do sightseeing on their own during their free time.

Day 11- 13: During these four days, all participants will be allowed to join in on a study tour to very important attractions in Sri Lanka. The places proposed to visit as follows. *Udawalawa wild life Sanctuary where participants can see wild life such as Elephants, Leopard, sloth bear, sambhur, monkeys, different species of beautiful birds etc. The night of the 9th day spend in the safari district of Moneragala and participants will take to a "Chena" - A small agricultural farms of the jungle people in the Moneragala district. *Participants will arrive in the City of Nuwara Eliya, Known as "Small England" by the British who ruled Sri Lanka in 18th and 19th centaury. Elevation is 7200 ft above the main sea level is one of the Sri Lankans most forbidding yet fascinating and stupendously beautiful regions. *On the 11th day, participants will arrival the ancient capital of the Kandyan Kingdom - Kandy. Sri Lanka's fascinating variety in climate and landscape, and rich cultural heritage has for many centuries attracted travelers from all over the world.

Day 14: Return to Colombo, explore Colombo city, shopping, and ending of project.
