Description: Volunteering opportunities include: Healthcare, Orphanages, Media Internships, Organic Farming, Animal Rescue, Conservation at a National Park, and programs on the Galapagos Islands. The optional Spanish Lessons are 1-on-1 and take place at our school in the heart of Quito.

Highlights: Despite its relatively small size, Ecuador is one of the most geographically diverse countries in the world. It has the Andes Mountains, Amazon Jungle, pristine beaches, the Galapagos Islands, and a classic South American capitol city in Quito.

Quito is a picturesque, safe, clean, historic city, divided into a colonial section and a modern section (we place volunteers in both areas). There are lots of cafes, shops, restaurants, and Internet cafes, many within walking distance of our host families.

There are alot of day- and weekend trips available from Quito where you can explore the Andes mountains, the Amazon jungle, the Equator, and many outdoor-market towns. Keep in mind that Quito is at an altitude of 9,000+ feet which can affect visitors for the first few days.

Ecuador is a stable & safe democratic country, and is a perfect place to learn and practice your Spanish, while immersing yourself in Spanish and Indian cultures.

Qualifications: Cosmic Volunteers requires of volunteers fluency in English, enthusiasm, and an open mind. Many programs in Ecuador also require at least conversational Spanish, although some programs with children require no proficiency in Spanish. Healthcare must be studying or practicing in the healthcare field, such as doctors, nurses, EMT's, medical students, and nursing students.
