Description:
NOLS offers wilderness courses for college credit. Leadership skills, environmental ethics and outdoor wilderness skills are the focus of NOLS courses. NOLS uses the wilderness as a functional classroom. NOLS offers courses in New Zealand, Mexico, India, Patagonia, Australia and The Yukon.
Highlights:
NOLS offers a backpacking course in New Zealand for students 25 and older. You will travel into the Lewis Pass area of New Zealand's South Island. The essentials of wilderness travel will be covered along routes of dramatic ridges and open alpine meadows. A chance for some fly fishing will be found while crossing Lush river valleys. NOLS also offers a semester in New Zealand. The semester involves 64 days in the spectacular classroom of the South Island. You will be sailing, hiking, sea kayaking, and learning about the regions natural history and culture. College credit and scholarships are available for all NOLS courses.
