TrekAmerica Adventure Travel & Tours

  United States

Dates: All year round.

Description: TrekAmerica is unique in that we offer our travellers an alternative North American travel experience. Our distinctive style of travel offers something different to your ordinary holiday. Now in our fourth decade of discovery, we have the knowledge and expertise to share with you all of the old favourites and a few of our new secret spots. There is still a path less travelled and the mystery of the open road beckons as strong as ever. Staying true to our mantra of "fun, freedom & flexibility", you never know what you'll find around the corner. Inviting the unknown, welcoming the unexpected and creating the unimaginable...

That's what TrekAmerica is all about.

Highlights:
* Not just another hole in the ground! The Grand Canyon stretches 277 miles long, 16 mile wide and 1 mile down... need we say more?
* Experience the magic & myth of the Navajo people as you explore the valley on a guided jeep tour or sit around a campfire to learn more through traditional song and dance.
* "Sin City" is the fastest growing city in the States, and the "tacky capital of the world". Home to pirates and pyramids, white tigers and waterfalls, this is Vegas BABY!
* The "City by the Bay" has got to be one of the most beautiful in the world. Visit hippy hang-out Haight-Ashbury, Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge.

We believe there's no better way to travel than in a small, informal group of like-minded friends. With travellers joining our groups from over 45 countries, it's no wonder that we are proud to have the most diverse, interesting and undoubtedly FUN groups in the business. After all, it's not only where you go but who you're with! With our adventure tours, holiday time isn't wasted waiting for a big group or spent hoping a bus will be on time. Our private transportation provides the freedom of the open road and the flexibility of independent travel - so getting off the beaten track is never a problem. Each trip has a unique personality that is only possible when travelling in small, intimate groups.

**Get around or go around**
Plane, train and bus passes seem inexpensive when compared to a tour, but remember that TrekAmerica is far more than basic transportation. Also included are national park fees, activities, attractions, overnight accommodation, local transportation in each area visited, camping equipment, and the services of a professional tour leader. Just as importantly, we are experts at getting you 'off the beaten path' including national parks, wilderness areas and wildlife refuges, that are most times very difficult, if not impossible, to reach via plane, train or big bus.

**Tour Guides, who needs them'**
Even the most intrepid travellers sometimes do. Sure it's possible to just get around, but the vast distances and limitless options in North America can be daunting to even the most experienced traveller, and often result in lots of wasted holiday time. TrekAmerica has thirty years of experience showing active travellers all North America has to offer, perfect for those with limited time or a limited budget. Our guides know where to go, how to get there, what to do, and they will give you the best options available. These guides lead each tour based on the season, activities available, and the group's interest. This means that you will have the best opportunities wherever you travel with TrekAmerica.

**Freedom, you want it, we've got it!**
Because we offer small groups and flexible itineraries, this is nothing like a coach tour, it is 'tours for non-tourists'. In fact, freedom is what we preach and, in practice, what you get. Are other travel alternatives as flexible' Will they stop for a photo of exotic wildlife or detour for a special event' Do buses stop for short hikes to hidden Indian pictographs, or secret swimming holes' On TrekAmerica tours, such stops are not unusual, they are expected. The freedom to experience the unexpected is what makes us different.

**Don't just see it, get out and do it.**
Discovering the best local companies for activities like mountain biking, watersports, horseriding, etc., is almost impossible before you arrive. We have already been working with them for years and years. Many active experiences are offered on the tours, like overnight cowboy camps, horseriding with Navajo guides, canoeing in Canada's wilderness, and more. We do not just see North America, we experience it.

**Never Camped Before'**
Don't worry' TrekAmerica has made it easy! We supply everything needed to make camping holidays simple and comfortable including tents, cold food storage containers, camp lights, stoves and other campsite accessories. Our Eureka Timberline tents are easy to set up and take down. We camp two in each four man tent, which leaves more than enough room for your luggage. We supply a thermal pad to sleep on, but if you prefer added comfort, you are encouraged to bring your own self-inflating sleeping pad.

**Our Campgrounds**
Campgrounds situated in stunning natural settings give TrekAmerica groups opportunities not found by conventional tourists. When we camp near major city destinations, nearly all the campgrounds have full facilities such as showers, pools, shops and laundramats. Virtually all National Park campgrounds have pay showers, flush toilets and basic facilities. Occasionally, our groups will choose to stay in more isolated areas where the surroundings will quickly make you forget any lack of facilities.
